Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Over a shining castle is a great dragon. He is sitting on the highest tower point, bathing in the cool morning sunlight. No one notices him because he looks like decoration, reflecting the sun in a brilliant golden color. Silneeran looks down and spots the mote filled with fish for the crocodiles to eat. Knowing that he can terrify the crocodiles, he swoops down and plucks the larges fish from the mote. He flies back up to where was before and eats it in one gulp. Later, Silneeran is spotted flying over the forest. He finds something and swoops down. He doesn't come up for a while. An hour later, Silneeran is seen with a book, laying in his nest and turning the pages with his tail. He looks around every once in a while, but does nothing else. When the sun goes down, he looks for a safe, cozy spot, makes a fire, and goes to sleep. Every morning this cycle is repeated. That's pretty much a typical day for this dragon. Rarely any battles.
