Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Belli the Hungry, as her name states, is very greedy and has a rather insatiable appetite for a hatchling. She prioritizes hunting and eating, although she doesn't exactly care how she attains any of her sources of food. Belli would hunt for herself, yes, but if she is unable to catch anything herself, her frustration forces her to bully other hatchlings, or smaller and weaker dragons into giving up their kill to her. Most of the time, the strange, mind-warping magic that most Desipis Dragons have cause other dragons to feel disoriented or dizzy, allowing a furious Belli to steal food away from even the most stubborn dragons.
