Frostbite Dragons first appear at the beginning of winter, creeping in with the frosts. They have found their place in human lore as the spirits of snow, since they only reveal themselves during icy weather. In the depths of winter, they cover the world in blankets of snow and are believed to be responsible for the glittering frost that creeps over everything. Although they appear cold and distant, they are actually rather mischievous and enjoy spending time dancing through blizzards.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Short-tempered, Neraine is quick to solve problems with violence. She usually wields a pair of swords forged from an unknown, probably-magical crystal, but has been seen to fight with a scythe and a High Preistess's sceptre as well. She is actually quite smart, usually seeing trouble coming, but is usually not wise enough to not run headlong into it. While she is prone to argue with Gelyan and Sisilly, she trusts them with her life when things go wrong.

When things happen around Neraine, she reacts, but she rarely ever initiates things. As well as passive magic, she seems to have a connection with Death and never admits to her emotions—even when they are obvious. She insists that Gelyan is not her boyfriend, and will attack whoever tries to insist that is so—including him and Sisilly.

After a complicated incident that ended with Neraine killing a reaper, she now has a pet, the ghost of a black, long-tailed rabbit with light magic.
