Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Luminuna is one of the elders of her tribe. She was discovered as an egg by the tribe's warriors after they had claimed a new area, and they brought her back with them. As a hatchling, her sunny personality quickly won over the dragons, and her grace made a few secretly upset that she was a drake and not a dragon. Luminuna became fascinated by the other drake, a Night Glory by the name of Duskilo, and despite his unpopularity in the tribe she became determined to make him her friend. Once he became curious about her, they connected quickly, eventually becoming mates.
