Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gatekeeper is an Ice dragon that came to Aquenee's cave from a distant land after hearing the stories of Judgement, another Ice traveler that came to overthrow the evil dragon, Vexen. She remained nameless for a long time, committing herself to acts of kindness and charity in hopes of gaining Judgement's recognition. Holding no name and no reputation, she was able to learn of the evil plans that other Ice dragons had, and to cunningly etch the plans into slabs of ice to be secretly delivered to Judgement. She did this for months, until she was finally caught in the midst of her secret delivery; Not by the evil Sadistic Chaos or his subordinates, but by Judgement herself. Pleased with the nameless dragon's actions, she granted her a name and a role in the cave: Gatekeeper. She now spends her days guarding the entrance of Vexen's prison, where she keeps the evil inside and the curiosity outside.
