Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lotari is one of a growing number of magi dragons who use teleportation to augment their treasure stash. Her family has been relocating humans and dragons for generations and has built up a reputation for being able to handle tough jobs. The family slogan is "Castles Our Specialty," which most individuals correctly interpret as meaning only the contents, but one persistent (and rich) client keeps asking her to move the family castle. Lotari would send him away to get exact measurements, especially of anything underground, but one of her ancestors already tried that with one of his. The man is paying enough to in theory make the job worthwhile, but Lotari finds it suspicious that he won't tell her why he wants the castle relocated.
