Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Horse dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Heredity is an interesting thing.

Rather than growing up to be both a fierce defender and mighty hunter like her parents expected her to be, Violette is, in simplest terms, something of a fop. Despite her father's best efforts, she prefers an idle chat over 'That odd hunting thing they seem to do'.

Nevertheless, there are some things that personality alone can't stop. After finally being convinced to go out with Gemstone, Proklyatie and Meina on a hunt, she discovered that she outflew them all by a wide margin effortlessly. However, she told them immediately afterwards that while it was fun and she would consider flying for the fun of it, she simply was not hunting material.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, she has developed a close friendship with Latinicus.
