Blancblack dragons are a two-headed breed known for their hardiness and easygoing nature. They are omnivorous, with the cream head preferring to eat plants and the violet head preferring to eat meat, and can adjust readily to harsh climates. These dragons are sociable—both with other two-headed breeds and with single-headed dragons—and can often be found as adopted members of social dragon colonies. They are often considered symbols of balance and fairness, and likenesses of Blancblacks have been found in ancient ruins associated with law and justice. Females Blancblacks have longer tails than males, which they use as whips when defending a nest from predators.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Two-headed dragons are unique enough to deserve a separate classification from ordinary dragons. They have two necks, two brains, two mouths, but one stomach and one main body. The two heads usually work together, but there are times when they will fight each other, snapping back and forth. Their unique anatomy prevents them from breeding with single-headed dragons.

When they were young, Kuj and Zo didn't think much of Ect and LJ. Their families were friends, to the two often played together, but the younger bauta couldn't keep up with the older blancblack. When Kuj and Zo left for college, they stopped thinking about their childhood playmate. Kuj majored in Impractical studies, writing his thesis on the aerodynamics of assorted fruit, while Zo went into Mundane studies and did research into the effect of daily chores on happiness. They tried dating a duotone, but while her orange head liked them, her purple head broke up with Zo. They moved to Lloyprij after Kuj got a grant to study the effects of mana residue on flying fruit and met a cute nexus—but she left them for a split with a big hoard.

Years later, they met Ect and LJ downtown. She was grown now, and handsome. They got to talking, and soon moved on to courting. Some may whisper that their parents arranged the marriage, but the rumours are unsubstantiated.
