Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling spends most of its time awake pondering the great mysteries of life. The one it spends the most time wondering about, though, is whether or not it would have gendered male or female.

It has a pretty good grasp on how life as a female would be  after all, it had spent a whole week to figure this part of the riddle out. During that time, it watched the adult females, talked a lot with the riddle-loving Silvia Bones, and at the end of the week it felt like it understood what being female was about.

Now, however, the other part of the equation weighs heavily upon it's mind. If I were a boy, it thinks, trying to imagine how its life would be then. Somehow, it is very intrigued by this scenario, but at the same time weirded out. So maybe it was a sign that it would have become a female if it hadn't frozen in time.
