Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

When Devon was born, she was thought to be dead. She did not breathe. She did not move nor cry. She just lay still. Her mother sorrowfully howled to the Heavens to return her little Devon to her, yet no answer came. Soon she lay down and prayed to the Demons to save her, and just as the prayers left her brain, Devon began to cry. Because Devon was allowed to live,  she is cursed and her soul is forever bound to the Demons. On top of all of this, her growth is stunted.
