Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Silver dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male silver dragons hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Illuminari's was the first silver egg born in his parents' clutch. Because of this, he always felt privileged over the other dragons, even when he was picked up by the Scribe and carried off to live with another Dragon Clan that lived separately from the main Cave. From the day he was born, Illuminari felt that he, such an exceptional rare beauty, should be the head of the Clan. However, all of his attempts to take over were thwarted by the current leaders, and even Illuminari's formidable strength was no match against four. Since then, he has contented himself with living high up on the mountain above the Clan grounds - a message to the rest of the Clan dragons that he is still above them all. Aside from being spoiled and bratty, Illuminari is upbeat and outgoing. Every night he flies down from his mountain to illuminate and guard the grounds. He will never hurt a female dragon, and he dreams of finding himself a mate - a purple dragon who will remind him of his mother and sisters.
