Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large stone on its tail.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Jaryd has a strange addiction to playing in mud. Of course, this is a major drawback as he resides in the most arid region of EG's Cave, Neelix Desert. As such, he has been on a quest for many years, ever since he was a very young hatchling, to find the Desert Oasis of legend. The over-exertion from the quest has even stunted his growth but has made his muscles strong.

One day he hopes to find the Oasis and frolic on its muddy banks. He has even visited Cumberland Lake several times and spoken to ancient Shallow Water dragons who have resided in the very oasis. Unfortunately, none remember where it once was located, prolonging Jaryd's journey.
