Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Engena is a Valentine's Day dragon who is driven by the need of pure perfection, nothing less. She's very polite and ladylike but she strives to make all the dragons follow her example, to be proper ladies and gentlemales. Little Fitini takes most of the lessons being the same breed, thus Engena wants Fitini to learn from her example, even if the hatchling won't ever mature into an adult. But that is no excuse in Engena's mind and she only pushes harder. Luckily for Fitini and others, one dragoness subtly lessens up Engena's lessons of elegance and that dragoness is dear Sanu. She neither critiques Engena or supports her, but she gives good advice to keep her obsessions in check.
