Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Like the egg it hatched from, it is a very shiny gold.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Taunter ran away from her parents at a young age, irritated by their odd, solitary style of life, and found herself promptly lost in a much larger forest than the one she grew up in. Calabrus saw her while scouting and took pity on the young hatchling, shepherding her up to the Silent Snowcap caves. Taunter fell right into the clan's pattern of life, taking it upon herself to watch over the youngest hatchlings, keeping them out of trouble. She's retained a lofty attitude, though, and will throw insults around without a second thought.
