Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

With seemingly boundless energy, Hydrogen can usually be seen bouncing around all over the place, fluttering up in the air almost all the time without once stepping down. He weighs very little, having even been deemed the lightest member of the Periodic Clan; he is very proud of this trait, as it grants him a lot of grace in the air, but it also unfortunately makes him prone to being blown away by a gust of wind if he's not careful. (Which he's not, as he is easily distracted in general and being friends with Helium the Daydream doesn't help one bit.) Hydrogen may seem like a cute, harmless hatchling, but don't be fooled by this; many dragons have been caught off-guard when they happened to make Hydrogen angry. He is swayed by his emotions all too easily, sometimes with devastating results.
