Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Hammer is an independent hatchling, and more than capable of taking care of and entertaining himself in most cases. He has several large piles of small rocks, and even a collection of geodes that he's happy to show off when asked. The other earth dragons care for him as he needs it, but usually being independent sorts themselves, know when to back off and leave him to his own devices.

The Lord of the Wings has taken him under her wing the most, and is the most like a mother to him. His mother's second in command, Swallowed Secret Seal, is the most like a father. The three of them always make sure to spend time together.
