Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Idaktal is the Junior Nocturne Guards' resident prankster.  He generally has too much energy for his own good, and invariably channels it into playing tricks.  The other Junior Nocturne Guards don't really react well to his games—Kowt and Aafcien lecture him on responsibility, shy Rintia just cowers, and Lytuhr growls menacingly at him.  Still, Idaktal remains irrepressible, even trying his stunts on other Dragontown residents if he's annoyed his teammates too much.  His favorite trick is to freeze in place while half-hidden by shadows until an unsuspecting passer-by wanders past, and then scare the daylights out of them by moving.
