Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Day Glory drakes are radiant and friendly creatures that love the company of humans. They are so friendly, in fact, that they will eat food and treats right from a person’s palm. Despite their friendliness, they aren’t an easy target for predators due to their excellent flying abilities; when danger approaches, they are able to vanish within seconds. Breeding only occurs during the day when the sun is warm.

Taelendril "the Exquisite" is by far the most beautiful dragon anyone Dragon Mirror knows has ever seen. She is the size of Dragon Mirror's head, with sweeping, curlicue-webbed wings the color of a morning sky, scales glittering gold, and markings fit to dazzle. Her long, purple feathery ears twitch as she tries to listen, like a cats' or an owls'. She sits on Dragon Mirror's right shoulder, opposite tiny Okra'ta.

Taelendril sometimes ventures into the nearby town of Whickham, where she visits churchgoers in the early mornings. She is hailed as an angel from God, with her gold body, brilliant wings, and clear, sweet voice. Taeli loves the attention she receives from delighted and awed worshippers and doting keeper alike.
