Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Max, like all of her green Striped brethren in the clan, is very nervous and almost paranoid, jumping at every unexpected noise, seeing dragons chasing her behind every corner. Only Max has more reason than most for her nervous ways. As an egg she was stolen from her mother's lair by humans who perfomed the most heinous experiments on her in an attempt to turn her into something they wanted her to be. Because of her relatively small size Max managed to escape her prison one night when the human guards were asleep and make her way to a friendly dragon clan that took her in without a question. Yet to this day, Max wakes up in the middle of the night expecting her former captors to have finally found her.
