Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Miomoto Soburo had, for a time been, king of the clan, as he was the only male Vampire in the large cave of pairs. He had want for nothing; a good mate, frozen hatchlings to call his own, and despite being a Vampire, good friends of the other dragons that lived with him. He was always careful about his condition, and only bit eggs if they were offered.

Then the Montagues came.

The small faction of the proud clan of Vampires sought and received shelter in Soburo's cave. Wary at first, Soburo saw the honor that the Montagues commanded themselves with. He played a key role in allowing the Vampires to live in the cave with the others. Too late did he see, the Vampires had no interest in control, but in very carefully planned selection of offspring. While this meant pre-existing members of the clan were safe, new eggs brought to the cave were not.

Ashamed of what he had helped take hold, Soburo submitted to a life of servitude, and was put in command of the Magi stock. With them, he plots revenge.
