Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Confusceleste believes the moons are actually the eggs of planets which come into and out of view as the mythical Father Sky strives to keep them at the perfect temperature for incubation. That means one day, they will hatch into baby planets, not entirely dissimilar to the floating islands to the east, but somewhat larger. He looks forwards to when their skies grow large enough to connect with Valkemare's, so that he can fly up to them and explore their continents. He is not sure whether they will hatch with one continent and then grow more as they age, like how sunflower stars grow more arms, or if they will hatch with all the continents they'll have as full-grown planets, but island-sized. He also worries about what will happen to Aurax Cheese, who already lives on the golden moon, when the moon hatches. The life cycle of celestial bodies is so long, neither may be around to see.
