Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Unlike Innatu, the clan's other daydream dragon, Ikseja will bring sweet dreams to her fellow hatchlings in their sleep. Thus, she has become very popular among them, often being asked if she wants to sleep next to someone or if she would like to stay for a while and play with them. Oddly enough, Ikseja still prefers the company of Innatu the nightmare bringer rather than other hatchlings, although not many dragons could stand his presence for long.
