Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

And I became—A BUTTERFLY is one of the more bizarre dragons in the Cave. For some reason, this daredevil Glory Drake is obsessed with diving into canyons, volcanoes, glaciers and other such hazardous places. At the last moment, when it seems that he must have been killed, he suddenly opens his wings and flies high up into the sky, calling "And I became—A BUTTERFLY!" This in itself would not be particularly unusual; many dragons are thrill seekers and enjoy pulling off seemingly impossible acrobatics. However, if anyone talks to Butterfly about his tricks, it is revealed that he believes that he actually does die every time he dives, and that his spirit lives on as a butterfly. Where he got this idea from is uncertain, although it is said that he used to spend a lot of time watching a dragon known as 'Pewdiepie'. Most dragons, however, put it down to Drakes being rather 'simple-minded', and pay no attention to his strange beliefs.
