Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

From hatching, Omniarch has always been a shy dragon. She didn't like attention, and cowered whenever an older dragon said her name. And the fact that she was a Silver Tinsel only made things worse. Dragons would hover over her and croon and fuss over her shiny silver scales, and in her free time (which she had a lot of) Omniarch would buff her hide. She didn't like to be dirty, and rarely ventured outside the cave.

Her foster mother, Dahlia, urged her to be more social. She tried to open Omni up and encouraged her to converse with others, but the young Tinsel refused. Dahlia didn't understand why she was so antisocial, and Omni didn't understand why Dahlia was so flamboyant. The two were completely different, but they loved each other just the same. After all, Omni couldn't live without her.

Eros, a Heartseeker, has successfully managed to draw Omni from her shell. She now confides in two, and only two, dragons. Her love for Eros has grown, to everyone's surprise, and later, ecstasy.
