Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Nightingale Soul, like his constant companion, Pine Nut, once lived as a house dragon on a rural farm. His main task from that life was similar to that of a pet bird, filling the farmhouse with his chirping songs. When their master died from old age, Pine Nut and Nightingale Soul were left to fend for themselves. During this time, their already strong kinship was strengthened from their dependence on the other to survive. Nightingale Soul's contribution to their survival was his larger size, which always helped the pair obtain the food they found. In time, the dragon duo crossed paths with Shield Tail and Dark Drakon's herd, whom they've remained with ever since. However, while all the dragons in the herd welcomed the pair, most of them remain skeptical over how a pair of former house dragons could pull their weight in a battle with dragon slayers.
