Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

One day an egg covered in seaweed washed up on the west coast of Scotland and was picked up by the human Mirhana. Having raised dragons before, she recognised it as a dragon egg, but the scaled exterior was new to her. Intrigued she took it home to her cottage, where she and the dragon Sabhail took turns to keep the egg warm. When it finally hatched, they had a much bigger problem: the hatchling had wings nor legs similar to a water dragon, and it just wriggled to get away from the bright light of the window. In a fit of panic, Mirhana and Sabhail flew back to the coast, scanning the sea until they found what they were looking for: the Water dragon Uisga.

Uisga looked after the hatchling, teaching the quiet and introvert dragon to survive in the sea. When she matured Aigeanna slipped without warning into deeper water, where Uisga would not follow. Little more is known about her then these simple facts, as she rarely spoke during youth and rarely surfaces in adulthood.
