Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Snoggins has no idea how close he came to being eaten in the adoptive dragon cave. The Guardian Dragon Kiliki and the Hellfire Wyvern Rhiani debated almost an entire night over whether the pungent, hole filled egg housed something sentient or was merely a potentially delicious snack. Kiliki's wiser head won out, and they both kept the egg well away from the others to give it a chance to hatch. Once it did, the Neotropical Dragon Tenchi promised to take Snoggins somewhere he wouldn't dry out--and not to eat him! Between him and the Pink Dragon Phyxx, they raised the sentient artifact to be a curious, fun-loving explorer of the jungle. They never leave him alone for too long, knowing that just because he's mature, it doesn't mean he's not still a target for the less scrupulous to eat.
