Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

All her life Hepic was rejected. As an egg, she was rejected from the nursery and placed far away, where the lightning bolts that streamed out of her couldn't reach the surrounding eggs. When she hatched she was rejected from all the normal childhood games, because her over-enthusiasm led to violent play, which caused her fellow hatchlings to despise and fear her. The fear, the paranoia, the pain of being rejected haunts her to this day. Maybe she was cursed, or maybe her mind was subconsciously forcing her to follow a terrible path, but Hepic found herself rejected by partner after partner, by friend after friend, until it all got too much. It hurts her, the fact that nobody seems to want her, to appreciate her, and while sometimes she believes she actually is worthless, most of the time her angry frustration at the world's unfairness shines through. Only one more rejection however, could push her over the edge into the downwards spiral of depression. Just one reject.
