Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Azalea Cleareyes is one of the three Flora Sisters. While not related by blood, these 'sisters' bonded closely as hatchlings while under the care of a human, and are now almost inseparable. All three of them are named after flowers, hence the nickname Flora Sisters. The other two sisters are Lilac Gentleheart and Adelaide Fontane.

Azalea has been described as 'The Faint Flora'. Compared to her sisters, she has neither of their beauty or expressiveness, often fading into the background at gatherings. What she does possess however, may be worth more than good looks and a caring nature combined: an intelligence higher than most other dragons of her generation. She can solve puzzles and riddles more quickly than most others she has met, and she almost never fails to notice the smallest of details. Whenever others have a question, she is the first they want to ask.
