Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Guppy simply goes by the name given to him by his "leader" Koeder. He refuses to accept any other name even that given to him by his parents. His loyalty to Koeder is the only thing he his definite about though, everything else is open for negotiation. Does he like to eat salmon—well that depends on the day of the week. Fishbait can be his best friend one moment and an icky girl the next. Even the rules of a game he plays can change without warning, often resulting with him using an ace during water polo to achieve a check mate.
