Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

SilverSweetheart is a darling Silver Dragon hatchling. She is always upbeat and usually humming a happy tune. At night she glows softly, as she sleeps other dragons say she looks like a little angel. During the day, SilverSweetheart likes to play with the other hatchlings in her cave. Her biological parents lost her as a hatchling in a human raid, and she wasn't old enough to know where her cave was. When SilverSweetheart's owner bought her at auction, there was no way of returning her to the parents that hatched her. So SilverSweetheart was adopted into her new cave and every dragon treats her like family.
