Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Luso Cyr, 31st named of the clan and third of the pink trio found in Vernal's garden. Luso is insecure and often withdrawn, wishing he had the sleek black hide of his father instead of his mother's delicate pink scales. He thinks his image is weak and because of this, some of the clan view him as such. Jormungand's open contempt for the smaller pink is the most damaging, but has also allowed him to form a bond with Lilibelle and Eowyn, who are similarly ostracized by the ice dragon.
