Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zodiec once lived in a different cave. His mother and father loved him and cared for him, but there was a violent storm one night. His mother, a Sunset dragon, had just returned from flying around in the sunset sky and returned to see her egg being guarded by Zodiec's father. The sky got dark fast, and rain rolled in. The thunder and lightning was so loud, but that was probably from the cave walls echoing all the noise. Suddenly, a huge gust of wind blew Zodiec out of his parents' grasp and down into the valley where Zaziphar's group is. Zodiec's parents would've saved him, but they knew about the large group of dragons down there and knew if they even set foot down there, they'd be attacked. Giavanni was out, enjoying the rain that was cleansing his scales and the darkness which helped him hunt since he could see in the dark better than light. He then heard something coming towards him.
