Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Avery Inks is a young Black dragon. Like the rest of the Black dragons in his clan, he lives where Izar stores all of the parchment, blank scrolls, and ink. However, unlike the other Black dragons, he doesn't spend a lot of time drawing. Instead, he is always scavenging for and hoarding things that he finds in various abandoned caves. He has a massive collection of various objects, such as various bottles of magical potions from the local wizard, partially burnt scrolls from punished dragon trainers, broken eggshells he glued back together from the graveyard, huge piles of gold and gems, a complete set of armor from a knight skeleton he found in the main cave, a few dragon teeth and talons he won in a battle, old books he found in an abandoned library in town, and multiple swords he found in the abandoned coliseum that he has learned to use.
