This hatchling’s behavior is not cute at all; it keeps trying to kick and bite you.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Lightless Chasm, or Lightless as he is known, is thought to be more evil than he really is. All he does is chase others away, because he feels defensive about his life. When he was a child, he had a nice family and nice friends. He found himself in another cave one morning, and the owner of the cave took him in and raised him. He never saw his family again. Lightless feels that telling others about his sadness would make him appear weak, but after he stopped aging, he has begun to open up to one dragon, and one alone: Floole. His budding friendship with her has showed the other dragons that he is not all bad, and they have begun to trust him again.
