Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male Silvers hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ying is frequently teased by the hatchlings for spelling his own name incorrectly.  After all, silver is supposed to be Yin, not Ying, which means shade.  Ying just nods along and smiles sheepishly.  The truth is, 'Ying' is a title granted to the most talented secret services member Yang country, which lies adjacent to Phantom Valley.  However, after failing to keep a straight face while pretending to kidnap the Yang princess for hopeful suitors to rescue, Ying was dismissed from service.  Disillusioned of his home country and distrustful of its Marine Dragon Force, Ying has decided to retire from government work entirely and opted to retire in anonymity.  However, he  realized much to his chagrin that the happy valley he now calls home is also home to the Marine Dragon Force's most wanted criminal—Luffy D. Aquahepta.  Ying has now decided to help guard Phantom Valley as best he can against his former allies.
