And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

If anyone has ever seen Gaidani awake and sitting still for more that ten minutes, they have been undoubtedly lucky. She has the annoying habit of running, jumping or dancing around all the time, never appearing to run out of energy. Fortunately, Gaidani spends the majority of her time outside the cave, playing with other hatchlings (especially Hakju and Uphairsina who are almost as wild as her). Zaraya, the clan's leader, seems to be the only dragon who is able to calm Gaidani down a bit.
