It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Violet Curiosity is a purple dragon. Despite his species, he is a male, and he is often the object of curiosity for the hatchlings, hence his name. He is very shy and timid, hiding away from visiting dragons, since they often mock him and laugh at him, calling him a 'girl'. Although he often tries to hide himself, he is not ashamed of his species, and he often entertains the hatchlings of his clan's cave with his long whiskers, which they love to pull (he does not mind this at all). Violet Curiosity ran away from his wild tribe as a hatchling when they found out he was a male. They thought he was strange, and that he didn't belong. After suffering cruel jokes and torturous humiliation at the hands of the other hatchlings, he finally decided to run away, and he was found by his owner's clan. He was raised by Violet Dawn, another purple dragon, and the two remain close friends.
