Antarean Dragons are peaceful creatures shrouded in mystery. They are primarily found in the desert where they get most of their energy from sunbathing. Their most notable traits are their highly reflective manes and the mysterious light emitted by their scales which fades from bright, nearly blinding yellow-white into dim red as the dragons get older. Legend claims that they are otherworldly beings that came to this world when a meteor struck.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Soarith was raised in the clan by the sea, by a Khusa dragon named Ravenine. He sees her as a sister, and it was her that brought him here was a tender fledgling when she herself learned how to fly long distances. Both of them should've been with their parents despite her skills in flight, and were scrutinized by adults for a long while. It was not out of suspicion but of concern and curiosity. Many dragons had gathered in the clan, but most were brought as eggs or abandoned hatchlings, or traveled here in adulthood. "Orphaned" hatchlings without human intervention were rare. Soarith eventually grew curious of his own origins as he reached maturity, and bothered his sister about it for months, but she remains adamant about not telling him. Nowadays, he protects and guides young dragons in the clan, gathering greens, making friends with vain but kind Upirigel, and throwing parties with Rigimel. Occasionally, he will go on long flights and wonder about his and Ravenine's parents.
