Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cyan Holly wears a headscarf with 24 volcanic glass pebbles on it. It is a bit heavy, barely keeps his noggin warm, and really serves no purpose. It used to: he had taken it from a "side-area-looking place" at the highly dangerous Papa's Domain not knowing what magic it carried, and a decade later, he finally learned from an adventurous Alcedine that it was Zarrus the Lean something-or-other's headscarf, with a spell cast on one of the beads to lead its wearer to an artifact of power. To Cyan Holly's disappointment, the headscarf turned out to be useless because Zarrus the Lean's magic was dispelled when he was killed by a cockatrice. Now, Cyan Holly is just a Spirit of Winter with a pretty headscarf. The small number of humans who witness him each year seem to believe the red holiday dragon with the beaded headwear is extra special, and some of them spread rumors. He thinks that's pretty exciting and has vowed to never interact with a human, to keep the mystery going.
