Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

For the longest time, Metar was uninterested in life. She tried many things to cure her boredom: flooding castles with torrential rains, knocking over forests with hurricane-winds, flattening fields of wheat into geometric shapes with hail, and even carving sculptures into desert cliffs with sandstorms. But that all changed one day, while she was building a fortress from falling snow atop a mountain. With a puff of wind, she blew a window into a wall, and standing right on the other side was the imperious Arvyle, come to see what was causing the terrible snowstorms. Metar was charmed by the summer's bravery, and the two became fast friends, and then they became more than friends. Metar pretends to be annoyed at Arvyle's constant urges to fling himself at danger, but in secret, she will follow him and give him subtle aid on his journeys. Arvyle's path is free of violent storms, gales, punishing heat, and anything else the sky wanted to do that day. So far, he hasn't realized...
