Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

An example of a perfect child, Silva is considerate, modest, and thoughtful. Such a specimen as Silva is rare, as most of the other hatchlings take advantage of their eternal youth to wreak havoc and get away with everything. Silva has a different idea of how things are: rather than being a hatchling both in mind and body, it believes that only its body is frozen, while its mind continues to age and mature. Seeing itself as nothing more than a smaller version of a silver dragon, Silva attempts to keep up with everything the adult silver dragons do, with little luck. It simply lacks the power of a full-grown dragon. Nevertheless, Silva tries its best every day to act like an adult, in poor hopes that it might one day get the chance to become one.
