Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ever since he was a small hatchling, Maetherien has been almost completely unable to use magic, and no one knows why. Some have their theories, though, and one can see why: one night, the tiny, curious hatchling disappeared into the part of the caves reserved for the vampire coven. Panicking, the cave organized a search; after several days, they found the poor little creature hiding in a large crack in the wall, terrified out of his wits. The vampires denied having even seen him, but no one believed them until Szabaru, the resident zombie, happened to pass by, sending Maetherien into a faint of terror. This, coupled with the zombie's smug grin and dubious reputation, convinced the others of his guilt, and they would have thrown him out had not his adopted mother pointed out they had no real proof. To this day, no one knows what happened in those dark caves; Maetherien can't summon more than a tiny spark of magic, and is driven nearly to tears at the thought of being alone in the dark.
