Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Although he is entitled to formality as the chieftain of the Slashkill Pack, Ripper prefers to be known by his name and not his title. Regardless, there is almost always respect in the voices of those who hail him. He is renowned among the nearby packs, lairs, and clans for his strategies and ferocity on a killing field. The reputation is well-earned, and Ripper has brought much glory to Credo Lair since he agreed to follow its leader, Lady Justice. He is among those who are displeased by their Lady's choice in a permanent mate. As one of her past dalliances that resulted in a son, Ripper is insulted that she would settle for a balloon out of all the dragons she had to choose from! (Including himself.) He and Lord Bounce rarely see eye to eye, and Ripper often picks fights with the boisterous dragon when they cross paths.
