Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

There was once a bright future for Ruined Hopes, who was named for that glorious, ever-present future. She was the most promising hatchling of the clutch, learning each skill even quicker than most. Her heart was set on becoming the greatest Supernova warrior who ever lived. That hope was so close, so close to becoming reality- until one fateful day took it all away from her.

Once, as a hatchling, she went out to hunt. This could have been an ordinary hunting trip for a fledgling dragon, but alas, Ruined Hopes had grown too big for her breeches. Daringly she had decided to stalk a young fox through the tree cover. It seemed as if this stunt would end in success, but the fox decided to bite back, permanently injuring her right wing. Not even the strongest magi's healing spells could repair her mangled wing.

Ever since, Ruined Hopes has lain low, bitterly accepting her terrible fate. She wishes that her wing had been forever lame, but it is hard to forget when your name is Ruined Hopes.
