Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

At first she appears to be a large violet horse... but as she twists her neck to groom herself, the flash of pearlescent horns gives her away as something far more exotic. Then with a snort, she snaps her head up and trains her bright eyes and tapered ears on some sound nearby, on high alert. With a scream of fierce displeasure—something between the roar of splitting stones and the silver peal of a mare's whinny—she bolts, silvery hooves tearing great clumps of sod and muscles bunching into great knots of toned power with every stride. Suddenly, she leaps, and great amethyst-shaded wings snap open to catch the air with powerful strokes. She is aloft in the blink of an eye, out of reach of danger, where she is free to voice her anger at being so rudely disturbed.
