Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Protector Ran is one of the Guardians who watches over hatchlings and eggs as they grow. He is generally sweet and docile in temperament, but at times there are flickers of insanity in his personality. Ran spends most of his time with the other Guardian, Protector Yoru, and the two are rarely separated. When they are, Ran can be heard protesting for miles, his high-pitched roars disturbing dragons all around. Ran is happiest when he is surrounded by the prettiest of flowers, and is saddest when Yoru scolds him. Despite their wildly clashing personalities, the two get along extremely well. The two treat each other as mates, and on the rare days when there are no young to care for, the two can be found coiled up together sweetly in moonlight or meadow. Protector Ran influences and warms the eggs, while Protector Yoru keeps other dragons at bay.
