Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has two heads and growls at you occasionally.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The Mercies are flirtatious and reckless and have a notably strong "I-do-what-I-want" attitude. Lettice is the more talkative one and tells stories of their adventures. She has a way of horrifying her audience, then making them laugh raucously. Grace talks less and likes to watch a good fight, especially one where her combatant of choice wins. Both love to sing questionable tunes. The dragon is large enough to give humans a lift, and during their runs, they may stop by one and croak for wine—wine for a ride. A human who manages to hold on while she bolts and turns erratically through and above town wins the Mercies' respect and esteem.
