Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is very active and playful.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Incredibly Soft thinks her guardians are uncool and stifling, which isn't very surprising for someone her age. The first beef she has with them is her name. Not only is it silly, it doesn't describe her and is also uncool. Since she was a teeny hatchling, she's asked all four of them about the origin, and they always, always! say, "You're named by Tradition." Incredibly Soft is determined to find this Tradition and ask what its deal is and why it has a say in important matters despite never having visited Incredibly Soft's home. One day, she'll also find her parents (maybe they know Tradition), who are probably a cooler than a quartet of boring coppers.
