Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hatching on an island made of nothing but volcanoes and ice, Arnfastr was trained for battle from a very young age. With no nurturing parents to guide him through hatchlinghood, he had nothing to rely on but his own body. Through constant conflicts his eyes became as keen and his wings as strong as those of an eagle. Although high up in the hierarchy of his icy home, he still left in search of a better existence. Flying south, Arnfastr managed to make his way to a chain of rocky islands surrounding a mountainous mainland. He soon learned the Highlands of Alba belonged to several clans of Guardians of Silvers unwilling to take in a warlike Black, but the islands were mostly free for the taking. More renegade Blacks have since flown in from the far north, including a fiery female by the name of Arngerda. Together they divide their time between raising their offspring and raiding the lands of the mainland clans.
